Cyber Security

Most of our lives are now on the internet, with almost 50 billion devices connected to the internet worldwide. The internet offers many blessings but, there is also a dark side. It is estimated that there is a global shortage of two million cyber security workers. Cyber security is crucial to ensuring our data is safe.
The course has three areas of study:
• Data security
• Digital forensics
• Ethical hacking
This award, at SCQF levels 4, 5 and 6, is designed to enable candidates to:
· understand the fundamental standards and technologies that protect data from intentional or accidental destruction, modification or disclosure
· figure out how crimes are solved with the recovery and investigation of material found on digital devices
· understand how hackers identify weaknesses and vulnerabilities of computer and information systems, and apply these skills yourself in a controlled environment
Exam information
Pupils must complete each of the three units in this course to gain the course award.
