The DET department comprises of three fully equipped workshops and two design studios to facilitate the delivery of Design & Manufacture, Graphic Communication, Practical Woodwork, Daydream Believers Creative Thinking, Design & Technology, and Practical Craft Skills.

Each workshop contains new hand tools and machinery, including wood lathes, centre lathes, a computer numerical control (CNC) mill and many more. Each design studio is equipped with 20 high specification desktop PCs to allow all the latest 3D Modelling and desktop publishing software to run. They also have new 3D printers, a laser cutter, vinyl cutter, sublimation printer, and engineering facilities to complement the facilities.

Through the BGE experience our young people should expect one period of DET input per week in S1 and S2.

After course choices have been made the young people can expect three periods per week in S3, four periods per week in S4, and five/six periods in S5 & S6.

Scotland has long been at the forefront of the innovative technologies and all our courses are designed to develop the skills young people need to allow them to access a career or further study in a related field.
