Pupil Attendance

We understand attending school can be more difficult for some, than others. We recognise that pupil attendance can be a useful indicator of how a young person is managing and reduced attendance can be symptomatic of things not being quite right. Attendance in school is closely linked to achieving potential and as such we will work hard to address areas of concern as quickly as possible, with our young people and their families.

The Guidance Teacher monitors pupil absences and lateness to identify any barriers and reasons for this absence every week. We will contact parents and carers to discuss this and put any supports in place to reduce absences and lateness.

The school has mechanisms to monitor trends across the whole school to ensure we are using attendance data to help us improve things for pupils on a strategic level.
