Italy Summer 2023
Over the last 22 years we have organised a tour of Italy every 2-3 years and involves a tour of Italy from North to South.
The current trip is due to leave at the end of the summer term in on 1st July 2023 and, having had an initial overnight in Switzerland, our first stop in Italy will be in Montecatini, Tuscany, for a visit to Pisa and the Leaning Tower, then to Florence, with trips to the Cathedral, climbing the dome, Uffizi Museum, Santa Croce, The Ponte Vecchio and the Hospital of the Innocents.
From Tuscany we head south to Naples and an early day trip to Pompeii after which we head North for Rome and dinner and an evening walking tour of the historic centre of Rome. The next day is a full day in Rome itself, with a tour to the Roman Forum, The Coliseum, Palatine Hill, then visits to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, National Museum and after a well earned rest a visit the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Cathedral the following morning before we head to Lake Garda as a base for the final two trips.
A short drive to the edge of Venice leads to a boat ride through the Grand Canal to the Rialto Bridge, St Marks Square and Bell Tower, with lunch near St Marks cathedral and the Doge's Palace, and back to the bus for an evening of culture in Verona, with a meal out and a trip to the open air arena for some musical entertainment.
After our final Italian sleep in the Hotel we return home to Dunfermline on 10 days after leaving for a well earned rest.
The trip for 2023 was open to the current S3, S4 and S5 pupils and had 45 places available.
Photos of the trip will be uploaded onto the school website and a gallery of the previous trip can be found below.
